Rapper, singer, activist, Oumy is resolute in her mission to carve out a path through the urban music scene for future women artists, using her lyrics as a powerful anthem for female empowerment, confronting sensitive issues such as rape, unwanted pregnancy, female genital mutilation and domestic violence, carried on an infectious mix of influences from hip-hop to Afro-pop. Since her 2013 debut single, ‘Hey Girl’, her prolific output has included three EPs, multiple cross-stylistic collaborations and her 2022 album, Possible. That same year she participated in the My Sahel project of the United Nations Organisation for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, alongside Amadou & Mariam, Vieux Falka Touré, Bassekou Kouyate and other major African artists. In 2023 she attended the COP 28 conference in Dubai as ambassador for the project.
