Pipo Romero, is a composer and acoustic guitarist from Cádiz, Spain.
His compositions come from the heart blending an original compendium of styles (folk, flamenco, classical, country, celtic music, tango and many more).
His first album “Folklórico” went straight into the top ten of World Music Charts Europe.
Pipo Romero has performed in numerous international forums (Spain, Canada, USA, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Korea) over the years.
Ikigai, his third album, is an ode to Spanish folklore and its crossover with Atlantic folks, but composed and performed on a steel-string guitar instead of the traditional Spanish guitar. Full of colors and nuances, from the purest and most authentic roots of his land but with an open heart towards other times and cultures.
After the successful premiere abroad of his third album IKIGAI in Jazz Fest Budapest in May, Pipo Romero and his trio visited Korea for the first time in August as a guest artist for the Seoul Music Week 2022 held at the Yangcheon Cultural Center in Seoul and a few days later he captivated more than 400 people who were amazed with his performance at the 315 Art Center in Changwon. Last September, Pipo Romero kicked off his autumn tour in Spain with the support of INAEM.
In January 2023, it premiered in New York at Lincoln Center before finishing its US showcase tour at the Folk Alliance International in Kansas City followes by tha Canadian tour in May,
During October, Pipo toured Taiwan for the first time, starting at WMF@Taiwan, followed by four more concerts in the country and flying afterward to China for a 10-day tour. He closed this magnificent year performing at Visa for Music in Rabat.
In 2024, following his successful performances at prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and Joe’s Pub in New York during the JanArtsNYC events around the APAP conference, Pipo Romero took a step back from touring to focus on composing and recording his next album. Aside from a brief appearance at the Cartagena Guitar Festival, Pipo dedicated the year to his creative process.
In 2025, Romero will release his highly anticipated fourth album “Alborada” continuing his journey of musical exploration and innovation.
