The Klezmatics

USA

Globally-renowned world music superstars – and the only klezmer band to win a Grammy award – The Klezmatics remain one of the most iconic and adventurous groups in modern Jewish music. Since emerging from the vibrant cultural scene of New York City’s East Village in 1986, they have led a global revival of klezmer, combining centuries-old Yiddish tradition with radical contemporary sensibilities, blending klezmer with jazz, gospel, punk, classical, Latin, and Balkan styles, embracing a progressive worldview, tackling themes like human rights, antifundamentalism, diaspora, and cultural resistance. Transcending genre and platform they have performed in over 20 countries, in venues from Carnegie Hall to European cathedrals to rock festivals. The Klezmatics 40th Anniversary Worldwide Tour for 2026 and 2027 is in planning, accompanied by a series of classic album re-issues and a brand-new release.
